Album: The Enchanted Steel Guitar of Lionel Wendling- Western Swing A totally unexpected and wonderful surprise is to find an awesome Western Swing CD from France. That is exactly what steel guitarist and vocalist Lionel Wendling and his band have given us in this new album. The musicians joining Lionel's voice and steel on this 14 tune CD are bassist Frank Bedez, pianist Manu Boch and guitarist Sylvain Troesch. Bas Sluis is the drummer and Mathias Hecklen-Obernesser plays the fiddle. Christian Seguret plays the electric mandolin. The album opens with a compilation of a partial version of Lionel's own Steel Guitar Special and Cindy Walker's Miss Molly from the Bob Wills collection. The CD also closes with Steel Guitar Special. Other Cindy Walker compositions from the Bob Wills book are Bubbles in my Beer and What Makes Bob Holler. Other originals written either partially or completely by Lionel are Fishin' Buddy, Your Love Fits Me and Toot Your Horn. Also from Bob Wills are Fred Rose's Roly Poly, Herb Remington's Boot Heel Drag, Haven Gillespie's Right or Wrong, Tommy Duncan's Time Changes Everything and Andy Razaf's That's What I Like About the South. Lionel borrows Seven Come Eleven from Benny Goodman and Charlie Christian and Tommy Camfield/Diane Johnston's Miles and Miles of Texas from Asleep at the Wheel.
